Aurelio Vázquez

Aurelio Vázquez is the Senior Director Asset Management at Hotel Investment Partners (HIP) responsible for the group's portfolio located in the Balearic Islands. He has more than 30 years of experience in the tourism industry and the hotel sector. He began his professional career at RIU Hotels & Resorts, where he was Director of Operations for 10 years. Later he joined the IBEROSTAR hotel group, where he remained for 23 years, holding positions as CEO EMEA and COO (Chief Operating Officer World Wide), leading the transformation and expansion of the company in Europe and America.

His professional career has always been linked to hotel management, occupying positions of responsibility in the main employers’ associations of the sector such as the Presidency of the Hotel Business Federation of Mallorca (FEHM). He has also held positions such as President of the Balearic Association of Hotel Chains (ACH), Vice President of the Spanish Association of Hotel Chains, member of the Board of Directors of Exceltur, Vice President of the CAEB (CEOE Baleares), and member of the Board of Directors of the Fomento de Turismo de Mallorca, among others. He was declared the Best Tourism Manager in Spain in 2018 by the Association of Journalists and Analysts of the tourism sector.

Aurelio Vázquez has a degree in Medicine from the University of Navarra. Later he studied an MBA at IESE, and has also taken different specialization courses in areas such as marketing, e-commerce, RRSS, new technologies, project and operations management, financial economic analysis, etc., in centres such as ESADE, IE and ISDI, among others.
